The Nightmare

The nightmare is always defined by a negative meaning and is a distressing dream that causes a feeling of fear is very strong. The nightmare may spur faster heart rate and makes the dreamer sweat. Sometimes dreamers feel very frightened and threatened to wake up from sleep. Sleep expert who examined it estimates that 30 to 50 percent of all children have nightmares, fortunately they usually run through a phase of nightmare well with age.

The common thing of nightmares when a small age is that we pursued by something, but we can not remember the reason why we pursued.Nighmare can happen quite complex and lengthy. 1 of 2 adults have nightmares at a time. An estimated 2 percent of adults have symptoms of nightmares prolonged and frequent. Stress, depression, and anxiety are common connected by nightmares in adults. An incidence of major life changes can cause nightmares, such as job loss, fear of financial conditions, the state of household, spouse, and health conditions. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to nightmares.

Nightmares occur in phases Rapid Eye Movement (REM) during sleep. REM is a phase that lasts about two hours during a normal night's sleep, yet another phase of sleep at that time was divided into 4 to 5 episodes. REM phases become gradually longer as the hours of sleep at night. And maybe we often realize that the nightmare that we often naturally occurs during the REM phase in the early morning. We could have had a nightmare in 1 to 5 episodes, but usually we can still have nightmares at a later stage during sleep.

Traumatic experiences, such as post-surgery, brain surgery, and war, along with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), can lead to a nightmare. Stress in the trust is a source of major cause of nightmares, and therefore relaxation techniques such as meditation and inner calming activities proved very helpful. And also eat right before bed can trigger the increase in the frequency of occurrence of nightmares, because eating increases the metabolic activity and brain activity.
